Crollwitzer Turkey Hatching Eggs

From Meadow View Poultry

Crollwitzer turkey hatching eggs are an excellent choice. These eggs come from our carefully managed breeding group, led by our stag “Big Bruce”—a standout bird known for his calm temperament, strong structure, and true-to-type markings.

Whether you’re new to hatching turkeys or looking to introduce a quality line to your flock, here’s what you need to know.

Turkey Eggs vs Chicken Eggs: What’s the Difference?

Incubation Time

The most noticeable difference is the length of incubation:

  • Chicken eggs: hatch at around 21 days

  • Turkey eggs: hatch at around 28 days

That extra week makes a difference when planning your hatch. Turkey eggs benefit from consistent, stable conditions, so it’s important your incubator is running reliably before setting them.

Patience During Incubation

Turkey eggs require a little more patience. Compared to chickens, progress can feel slower—especially in the early stages. Stick to a steady routine, candle at appropriate intervals if needed, and avoid unnecessary opening of the incubator, particularly in the final days before hatch.

After Hatch: Setting Your Poults Up for Success

Once your poults have hatched and dried, your brooder setup becomes critical.

Ventilation is Key

Young turkeys are more sensitive than chicks, particularly when it comes to respiratory health. Poor airflow can quickly lead to problems.

A good brooder should be:

  • Warm, but not stuffy

  • Dry and clean at all times

  • Well ventilated, without cold draughts at poult level

Stale, damp air allows ammonia and moisture to build up, which can irritate airways and increase the risk of infection.

The goal is simple: warmth + dryness + fresh air.
